Learning to live

Life is a troubling beast. Time is pulled every which way and the world is speeding up. We are faced with an increasing amount of data which quickly overwhelms our minds. And when we do get things right everything shifts in the next instant and we’re suddenly behind again. However, this Linkedin post provides some simple but challenging goals for those of us trying to do succeed in this world. Maybe I just like the article because number 3 reminds me of a favorite quote:

“Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.” ~ Sir Winston Churchill

I am not exactly the beacon of risk-taking. Thinking about things has been a hobby of mine for as long as I can remember. When I learned that my dad, a physics professor, was paid to think about things he liked to think about I was sold on the idea of becoming a professor. It seemed like the least risky job a person could ask for. From this side of the PhD I am happy to say that while this isn’t exactly what I expected – I have less time to sit and think than I would like and the stress of trying to think up new things that no one has ever thought up before is turning my hair grey – I really enjoy my life.
