I stumbled onto a pretty great visualization of American land use today: https://www.visualcapitalist.com/america-land-use/ The initial plot with everything on it is a little hard to get at first – the plot doesn’t have a legend but only shows you what each color means when it transitions to the proportion plot.
However, you start to get the idea when you scroll down and see the breakdown of each category. I especially like the one that breaks down forests, wetlands, and parks throughout the country:
