I’ve probably mentioned this before but I’m a huge fan of driverless cars. You give me the opportunity to buy one right now and I’d almost surely do it (I don’t know the price so I can’t fully commit just yet). My interest in a driverless car is largely related to the inefficiencies of me driving – my time is better spent catching up on research, reading and responding to emails, or in any way contributing to the world.
That said, this article reminds me of the biggest reason I’m a fan of driverless cars: their potential to save lives. We’ve all known people who have been injured or died in wrecks, many of which could have been prevented by an unimpaired and/or undistracted driver. The technology is getting there and the laws are sure to slowly follow but can’t come fast enough if you ask me. I’m ready to sit back, relax, and let Google take me safely wherever I need to go.
Thanks to Christy Milliken, an attorney in Washington DC, for bringing this article to my attention.
