Traffic is a constant problem in the world’s biggest cities and it is only going to get worse. That is, unless the good people at Stanford have anything to say about it. They aren’t tackling congestion by convincing drivers that there is a faster route through via secondary roads (which can result in too many cars going to the secondary route and actually LONGER routes if the system simply optimizes the single driver’s route and not the network), but are using good old fashioned economic incentives. They pay people to walk, ride bikes, take the bus, etc. Now that is an idea I can get behind.
My only question: how long until this is launched in State College?
